2023 Pennsylvania Downtown Center Conference Recap

This week, members of the Downtown Inc and York County Economic Alliance team attended the 2023 Pennsylvania Downtown Center Conference in Scranton, PA, the Commonwealth's Premier Revitalization Conference, to learn more about economic development and revitalization, and to present as speakers in their respective fields.

Our very own Silas Chamberlin, Chief Strategy Officer and Vice President, and Sully Pinos, Executive Director of the BLOOM Business Empowerment Center, presented on 'Building an Inclusive and Equitable Economy,' and Jonathan Desmarais, Director of Downtown Inc, presented 'Walking the Talk.'

The team also brought back two Townie Awards: the Community Asset Enhancement Award for the York County Trail Towns Program and the Anchor Building Award for the redevelopment of The Yorktowne Hotel. The Townie Awards are a festive and venerable tradition designed to recognize the commonwealth’s core communities and individuals for creation and implementation of projects, programs and events that exemplify the goals of Pennsylvania Downtown Center’s community revitalization mission.
